Philosophy
My philosophy behind photography is first and foremost to capture the moment. Beyond perfection, I believe that a real expression, a natural smile, a cute funny face, or a spark in the eye, is so much more than a perfectly staged pose. Photography is an art in my eyes, and like any form of art it should create a feeling in the eye of the person that contemplates it.
Light
Natural light is my best friend! Anytime I can plan a shoot around natural light I will do it! Late in the day, a few hours before the sun sets, is just the dream light. I rarely use artificial lighting unless I don't have a choice. Before a shoot, I will often go on location and try to find the best light. It just makes all the difference in the world, believe it or not!
Style
Whenever I plan a shoot, or think of an idea for a photo, or take or edit photographs, I always think of 3 things: Fresh, Editorial and Lifestyle. These are the 3 main words I want my images to say. I think of ‘Fresh’ as happy and new and innovating. I think of ‘Editorial’ as style and quality – I like to ask myself if I could see each of my photos in a magazine when selecting them. And last of all, I think of ‘Lifestyle’ as realness and liveliness of my images. When I photograph people, I like to do it a lot in a photojournalistic way, especially at weddings. My weddings always include a photo session with just the bride and groom and the wedding party. My goal is to achieve something unique, real, and fresh. My portraits, and family, and maternity shoots are slightly more posed and directed but always keeping in mind my style and making sure that my clients are having a good time. Fashion and beauty and boudoir...be prepared to pose.
